Fraud Exceptions Report

This daily report has a number of sections that should be reviewed daily to assist you in lowering your financial institution's fraud risk. This report displays a number of fraud prevention triggers.

Note: This report is programmed to support Separate Entity Processing clients by displaying the presentation instrument (PI) number.

How to Access:

  1. Select Search All Your Dynamic Reports.
  2. In the Filter by Report Category field, type "Fraud/Dispute Reporting".
  3. Select Fraud Exceptions Report.
  4. Select Run Report.
  5. Select required fields:
  • Report Date
  • Additional Days
  • Exceptions
  1. Select View Report.
Note: The Fraud Exceptions Report for the current day/date is not available until afternoon.

 

 

Field Descriptions:

MisMatch Type: This field indicates if the mismatch was CVV/CVC or CVV2/CVC2.

MisMatch Name: This field displays the name entered or read from the card.

Note: If the name "Shell, Non-mon" displays, this is a card that was instant issued that doesn’t have an account built on 3270.

 

Critical Non-Mons: The following are critical non-mons:

  • Address Change
  • Phone Number Change
  • Mothers Maiden Name Change
  • Social Security Number Change
  • Adding Authorized Users

 

Accounts Subject to Automatic Float Process

A listing of accounts for which payments received will be floated based on settings in the under breakpoint float months and the over breakpoint float months parameters in the payment reversal section of PCF.

  • Review to determine if you want to extend the payment float or remove the payment float. We recommend that any payment be verified with the financial institution the payment was drawn on prior to the payment float removal.


Accounts With Authorization Prohibited

Accounts with transactions posting to with an external status of A:

  • Should be reviewed to determine why transaction posted.


Accounts With Credit Balances

A listing of transactions posting to accounts that have credit balances greater than the amount set in the credit balance limit parameter:

  • Review to determine why the account has a credit balance and if a refund needs to be issued or if the credit balance is suspect.


Accounts With Excessive Payments

A listing of payments posting to accounts that have reached the number of payments in one cycle set in the multiple posting parameters in PCF.

  • Review for payment kiting (rapid payments coming into the account, followed by a number of cash advances or purchases) and, potentially, verify funds on those payments. If suspect, you can F status the account for a set period of time.


Accounts With Excessive Transactions

A listing of transactions posting to accounts that have reached the excessive transactions level set in the excessive Tran Days and Excessive Tran Number parameters:

  • Should be reviewed to determine if transactions are fraud and or determine the risk of transactions the cardholder might be presenting to the financial institution.


Accounts With Fees Waived

A listing of accounts that have had late charges, over limit charges, cash advance item charges, or merchandise item charges waived.

  • Monitor fee credits to ensure that a cardholder is not continually getting fee credits, to ensure that a large amount of fee credits are not being applied without proper approval and also to ensure that employees are not applying fee credits to their own accounts.
     

Auth Flag Changed To Or From Q or V

A listing of accounts that have had their authorization flags changes to or from Q or V today.

  • This flag allows any authorization to get approved no matter the setting on the account. Monitor to see why this would be used and if it is being used properly. The flag must also be manually removed after the transaction has been approved; otherwise it will continue to approve all transactions.


Backdated Monetary On Locked Strategy

A listing of backdated monetary transactions that posted to accounts with a locked strategy and the transactions should have been applied under a strategy that is different than the one into which the account is now locked.


Bankrupt Accounts

A listing of transaction posting to account with an external status of B:

  • Should be reviewed to determine why transaction posted.


Charged Off Accounts

A listing of transactions posting to accounts with an external status of Z:

  • Should be reviewed to determine why transaction posted.


Closed Accounts

A listing of transactions posting to accounts with an external status of C:

  • Should be reviewed to determine why transaction posted.


Credit Line Exceptions

A listing of new or existing accounts in which the credit line has been set to an amount outside the limits set in the Reporting Maximum or Reporting Minimum parameter in PCF OR the credit line on an existing account has been increased more than the amount set in the Increment Warning amount parameter in PCF.

  • Review for credit lines that are outside the norm to ensure proper risk assessments were preformed prior to issuing credit line.


Cycle Code Change Amount

A listing of accounts in which the number of days between the last cycle and a newly set cycle exceed the number of days set in PCF.

  • Review to ensure that an account has to make a minimum payment within a specific period of days. In some cases, an account could go for two months without a payment needed if not watched properly.

 

Cycle Credit Balances Accounts

A listing of accounts that have cycled up to a maximum of seven times with a credit balance:

  • Review to determine why the account has a credit balance and if a refund needs to be issued.


Declined Authorization Amount

A listing of authorizations declined due to the authorization dollar amount exceeding the amount set in the declined authorization parameter in PCF.

  • Review to determine why the account was declined and if additional steps need to be taken on the account.

 

Delinquency Adjustments/Fixed Payment Changes

A listing of accounts that have had a delinquency adjustment or fixed payment change made to them today.

  • Review for auditing purposes.

 

Delinquent Accounts 

Status D or X and have a posted transaction that meets the delinquency reporting criteria of PCF:

  • Should be reviewed to determine why transaction posted.

 

Fixed Payment Change Amount

A listing of accounts for which the amount of change in the fixed payment as a percentage of the current balance exceeds the value set in the large fixed  payment change parameter in PCF.

  • Review to ensure that an account is not receiving continual credit balances.
  • This report is used to monitor risk of large outstanding balances. Review account to determine risks that the account might present to your financial institution.

Large Cycle to Date Payment Amounts

A listing of accounts with cycle to date payments that are equal to or greater than the amount set in the Large Total CTD parameter in PCF.

  • Review for payment kiting (rapid payments coming into the account, followed by a number of cash advances or purchases) and, potentially, verify funds on those payments. If suspect, you can F status the account for a set period of time.


Merchant Credit Exception Breakpoint Amount

A listing of accounts with returns exceeding the amount set in the merchant credit parameter in PCF OR this section will contain accounts with returns exceeding the amount set in the merchant credit parameter and that lack debit activity for longer than the number of days set in the days inactive parameter in PCF.

  • Review to ensure that credits are not being applied to the account fraudulently. All credits should have a debit off set somewhere on the account. If not, you may want to ask the cardholder to provide proof of initial purchase.


Miscellaneous Exception

A listing of accounts with any of the following conditions:

  • The interest rate on a new account has been set or changes to a nonstandard interest rate other than those set through PCF.
  • The number of plastics on a new or existing account has been set or changed to more than two plastics.
  • The term flag on the cardholder account record has been changed using the NM 41, Term Level Flag transaction.
  • The account’s cardholder account record rate and the variable interest rate are added together and total more than 22%.
  • An account’s calculated interest rates exceed the maximum interest rates or are less than the minimum interest rate set on the account record.
  • The cardholder’s only monetary activity is the annual charge and payment has not been made.
  • The Zip Code on a new or existing account has been set or changed to a Zip Code not corresponding to the customer’s state.
  • The expiration date on the account has been set or changed to a date more than three years in the future. 
Note: This Miscellaneous section should be reviewed to possibly correct or monitor accounts that have potential errors or exceptions on them.

 

Multiple Adjustment Number

A listing of accounts in which the number of adjustments exceeds the number of adjustments set in the multiple adjustments parameter in PCF.

  • Review for the following: Why were multiple adjustments made? Are they correct? Do further adjustments need to be made?


Over Limit Account

Account Status of O that have a transaction posting that meets the over limit reporting criteria of PCF.

  • Should be reviewed to determine why transaction posted.

 

Payment Floated Today

A listing of accounts that have had payments post today that will be floated due to the Float Payments Until Date field on the cardholder account record.

  • Review to determine if you want to extend the payment float or remove the payment float. We recommend that any payment be verified with the financial institution the payment was drawn on prior to the payment float removal.


Payments of Large Amounts

A listing of payments posting to accounts that are equal to or greater than the amount set in the Single Large Payment parameter in PCF.

  • Review for payment kiting (rapid payments coming into the account, followed by a number of cash advances or purchases) and, potentially, verify funds on those payments. If suspect, you can F status the account for a set period of time.

 

Pricing Portfolio Exception

A listing of accounts that your allocation table settings attempted to move out of the ALP service.

 

Reage Review

A list of accounts that have been the same number of cycles delinquent for three consecutive months.

  • Review for possible reage depending on financial institution policies. It could also be a red flag that the cardholder cannot make the minimum payment and might need additional attention or a payment plan.


Reserve

A listing of purchases reserved for clients who use the Fiserv retail processing product.


Returned From Delinquency Accounts

Accounts that were delinquent yesterday but because of activity today they no longer meet the over limit reporting criteria of PCF:

  • Should be reviewed to determine why account was removed from delinquency.

 

Returned From Over Limit Accounts

Accounts that were over limit yesterday but because of activity today no longer meet the over limit reporting criteria of PCF.

  • Should be reviewed to determine why account was removed from over limit.


Revoked Accounts

A listing of transactions posting to accounts with an external status of E.

  • Should be reviewed to determine why transaction posted.


Stolen and Lost Accounts

Lost or stolen accounts that have transactions posting to these accounts.

  • Should be reviewed to determine why transaction posted.


Strategy Reallocation Exception

A listing of account that has had their pricing strategy changed due to a backdated adjustment that crossed cycles.

Note: This only applies to clients utilizing ALP and MLP services and the posting of a backdated adjustment that crossed cycles in conjunction with the strategy change option set in PCF.
