Name Truncation

Visa and Mastercard limit lines 3 and 4 of plastic embossing to 21 characters. Names longer than 21 characters will be truncated.

The truncation module uses the following steps to edit applicable names to appear on plastics:

1. Remove any extra spaces between the name, prefix and suffix.
2. Remove any suffixes, such as DDS, JR, MD, CORP, INC and LLC that follow the name.
3. Remove any prefixes, such as DR, MR, MS, MT and ST that precede the name, which followed a forward slash (/) when the name was entered.
4. Remove the middle initial from the name.
5. Remove all the first name except for the first initial.
6. Remove characters after the last allowed position from the right side of the name.
